About Us

4Motion Skatepark in Darlington has grown from a small community idea into one of the North East’s leading indoor action sports hubs.

Our journey began in June 2012, when a group of parents—whose children had previously enjoyed bike coaching at West Park—came together with a shared goal: to restart the sessions, secure funding, and bring in volunteers. What started as a plan to support young riders soon grew into a bigger vision: to create a dedicated indoor skatepark for the town.

Around the same time, Darlington Gymnastics were also seeking a new home. Together, the two groups began searching for a suitable building that could serve the needs of both communities. From this collaboration, 4Motion Darlington was born—becoming a company limited by guarantee in April 2013 and a registered charity in July 2013.

Throughout 2013, countless hours of volunteer effort went into designing the park, fundraising, and securing loans to make the project a reality. Finally, on 29 March 2014, 4Motion Skatepark opened its doors in a warehouse on the Faverdale Industrial Estate. Designed with a mix of street and park sections, the facility quickly became a hub for BMX, skateboarding, scooters, and inline skating—welcoming riders of all ages and abilities.

But 4Motion has always been about more than just ramps. As a charity, we reinvest everything back into the local community—offering coaching programmes, school and community group sessions, outreach projects, and private parties. Our all-weather indoor venue provides a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where beginners feel supported, experienced riders stay challenged, and friendships are formed.

At its heart, 4Motion stays true to its mission: to inspire creativity, confidence, and community through action sports.
